Holiday Movie, Sleigh Rides and Activities Are All Free at 'Home for the Holidays' in Oak Park

Holiday spirit will be booming in downtown Oak Park at Downtown Oak Park's "Home for the Holidays" event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21.

Downtown Oak Park will welcome anyone coming home for the holidays this weekend with an all-day event to get Oak Parkers into the holiday spirit. 

Home for the Holidays kicks of at 11 a.m., but any Will Ferrell fans can start the day a little earlier with a free showing of Elf at Lake Theatre. 

Here's a schedule of the day's events:

  • 10 a.m.—Special showing of “Elf” at Lake Theatre
  • 11:00–3:00 p.m.—FREE Horse-drawn sleigh rides (board at 106 N. Marion)
  • 11:00–3:00p.m.—Stop in for a hot cocoa from Fannie May at the Warming Tent on Westgate.
  • 11:00–3:00pm—Santa will be out and about looking for photo-ops on his way to the North Pole (bring your camera)
  • 12:00–1:00 p.m.—Sing along with Route 66 as they ride the sleighs and sing some holiday favorites.
