The Park District of Oak Park stopped all gymnastics activity a few weeks ago to make its final moves to the Gymnastics and Recreation Center at Lake Street and Ridgeland Avenue. The big event—unveiling the new GRC—will be at a Community Open House on Saturday, Oct. 5. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Oak Parkers can take guided tours of the new facility, check out a team practice and the new spaces for parties and TRX classes. Until Oct. 7, all park district gymnastics classes will be on hiatus. Read more about the GRC construction project here.
The Oak Park Public Library will celebrate its 110-year anniversary with parties and activities at all of its locations throughout the day Saturday. This special evening includes live performances by The Boogers, playing rock & roll for kids (7:15 pm), and R-Gang, bringing you R&B, funk & soul from Motown into the 21st Century (8:15 pm).
