Temps to Reach a Balmy 38 This Weekend

Could we really top the freezing point this weekend? National Weather Service seems to think so.

What a week.

Oak Park started to warm up a bit Tuesday, when temperatures rose above 0. The week was a record-breaker for the Chicago area as the coldest Jan. 6 to date, with an official reading of -16 degrees, breaking the former record of -14 degrees set in 1894 and 1988.

Temps will continue to climb to a whopping high of 25 degrees Thursday, with a 40 percent chance of snow predicted, according to the National Weather Service

Friday could get up to 38, with a 60 percent chance of precipitation. Temps will stay in the high 30s, with a high of 37 Saturday and 38 Sunday. Lows Saturday and Sunday night are 24 and 29, respectively.
