Magic Tree Bookstore was founded in 1984 by Rose Joseph and Iris Yipp, who attribute their success to knowledge of what they sell and establishing relationships with their customers.

Yipp offers advice to young readers (or to those buying books for them) based on age and interests. It's also not unusual for the staff to identify the book a customer is looking for based on a vague description of the subject or its cover. 

The store holds book readings for kids on Wednesdays at 11am. Information on other events can be found at its website.
