Founded in 1975 by local-resident, Marion Karczmar, the Oak Park Festival Theater is a professional company underMore contract with the Actors Equity Association.  The company is dedicated to producing exciting and vivid reproductions of William Shakespeare's works tradionally and al fresco in Austin Gardens, as to complement the imagery and richness of the Bard’s language. A festival takes place each summer in Austin Gardens near the Frank Lloyd Wright historic district. In the spring, productions are staged indoors at the Madison Street Theatre.
Volunteer opportunities, internships, classes and Family Days (pre-show activities plus an early performance) are also available to theater lovers through the Oak Park Festival Theater.
