Lindberg Park
Greenfield St & N Marion St, Oak Park, IL 60302

What began as a public landfill is now the site of a sprawling park with ballfields, tennis courts, green fields andMore gardens. In the 1930s, Parks Superintendent Gustav Lindberg, redesigned it, and had parts of gardens dismantled after the 1934 World's Fair in Chicago transplanted there. The gardens later turned into a "victory garden" in the World War II era, and then into a vast meadow.

Through the combined efforts of the Park District of Oak Park, Oak Park and River Forest High School and the Garden Club of Oak Park and River Forest, the garden now contains about 90 varieties of perennial plants native to the area. The 13.9-acre park, which is situated in the northwest corner of Oak Park, also features a concession stand and a playground.
