Lordy Lordy, Val's Halla is Forty

Legendary Oak Park record store will celebrate 40 years in business with a blowout celebration. Before you go, give a shout-out to an Oak Park icon.

Maybe you've walked into Val's Halla and gotten schooled in some relatively obscure genre by proprietor Val Camilletti or store manager Shayne Blakey. Maybe you walked out of the store with an album you didn't know you had to have. Or maybe you just dove into the crates and scored some tunes. Either way, the chances are the music emanating from Val's Halla has touched your life somehow. We want to hear about it. Halla-Palooza, the two-day music fest and sale commemorating the store's 40th anniversary, takes place July 28-29. Here's a link to the complete lineup so far.
