With a Kick, Woman Refuses to Give Up iPhone on Blue Line

Police issuing safety tips for public transit after recent robbery attempt.

A robbery attempt on the CTA Blue Line was thwarted when a passenger refused to hand over her cell phone, then kicked the would-be thief.  The robbery attempt occurred Jan. 20 at the CTA Austin Boulevard Blue Line stop shortly after noon, police said.  That's when a male passenger, described by police as 18 or 19 years old, walked up to a passenger and tried to swipe her iPhone from her hands. The victim, a 34-year-old woman, refused to give it up and kicked the man away from her, police said.  After being kicked, the man tried stealing the phone again, this time by threatening violence. River Forest Police Blotter: Wedding Rings and Jewelry Stolen From Apartment

The following items are taken from River Forest Police Department daily summary reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurs, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. DUI Charge: Andrea G. Body, 22, of 7540 W. Ishnala Drive in Palos Heights, was charged with drunken driving after a traffic stop at Park Avenue and Le Moyne Parkway about Monday, Jan. 17. DUI Charge: David P.
