Oak Park Police Seize Heroin, Cocaine in Unrelated Drug Arrests

All three incidents took place over a 24-hour period; one arrest took place in Forest Park.

Three men have been charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance in three unrelated drug arrests over less than 24 hours on Dec. 27, Oak Park police said Friday. Two of the arrests came after traffic stops on Austin Boulevard and South Harlem Avenue. A third came after a citizen alerted an officer about suspicious activity outside of a bathroom at a gas station at Austin Boulevard Harrison Street. Addison, 50, of Chicago was charged with possession of a controlled substance after police brought him for what later became an unfounded charge of possession of a stolen vehicle, police said. Oak Park and River Forest had its share of crime this year, with the latter community experiencing its first homicide since 2005 and with a choker menacing women in Oak Park. Here’s a look back at the year in crime. Three men – one a former North Chicago police officer – were charged with first-degree murder in connection with the July 11 shooting death of Chervon Alexander in a parking lot near Division Street and Bonnie Brae Place. According to police, Devin A. Bickham, 39, both of Blue Island, had conspired with his 20-year-old son Devin Ardvell Bickham Jr., and Cardell Taylor, 35, of Chicago to kill Alexander, who authorities said was the older Bickham’s mistress.
