Heroin Turns Up in Cigarette Box: Police Blotter

Forest Park police reports, Sept. 10 - Sept. 16.

SUNDAY, SEPT. 16 A 2000 Chrysler Voyager was stolen sometime between Sept. 13 and Sept. 16 from a lot in the 7300 block of Circle Avenue. Desmond E. Smith, 41, of Chicago was charged with felony driving on a revoked license after being pulled over in the area of First Avenue and Roosevelt Road for having a license plate cover over the rear registration plate, police said. SATURDAY, SEPT. 15 Angelique Johnson, 43, of Chicago was charged with felony retail theft after she tried to leave the store with a cart-load of items from Walmart, police said. According to police, Johnson placed several items into her cart and went to customer service, where she attempted to return a water filter that she had with her when she entered the store, police …

Parolee Charged in Burglaries at Area Stores

Four of the incidents involving Carl Griffin took place in Forest Park, one in Oak Park, police said.

A Chicago man with an extensive criminal history of robbery and burglary has been arrested in connection with a string of similar incidents in Forest Park and Oak Park, police said. Carl Griffin, 44, was out on parole when he was charged with three counts of burglary and one count of felony theft to businesses along Madison Street this summer, Forest Park police said. He also has been charged with breaking into an Oak Park convenience store in August, Oak Park police said. Griffin was picked up Sept. 3 around 5:36 a.m. in the 400 block of Marengo Avenue after an officer found that his face matched a picture on a flyer that police circulated around Forest Park about the incidents, authorities said.
