Avenue Shops Offer Labor Day Deals

Handful of businesses band together to offer holiday sales.

On Labor Day, some people will take to their back yards, intent on squeezing in the last of their seasonal barbecues. Some will sleep in late, keep the children busy or finish some jobs around the house. But an Oak Park group of business owners is dangling enticements to get people away from their homes: special Labor Day sales.  Eight businesses from the Avenue Shopping District are participating in the "Shop Local on Labor Day" sale: Divine Consign, Erik's Deli, Nora's Shoe Shop, Maya Del Sol, Filoni, Winberie's, Red Hen Bread and Gepetto's Toy Box.  Each business is offering a discount with the use of a special coupon (available by printing the image in the photo box), which lists the Labor Day deal for a particular store.
