Oak Park Crime Briefs: Graffiti and an Intruder at OPRF, Vandalism at 1140 Lake

Vandals take to the walls at two local buildings.

GRAFFITI AT OPRF Spray paint was used to vandalized the exterior walls of Oak Park-River Forest High School, 201 S. Scoville Ave. over the weekend.  Police said the vandalism took place sometime Friday evening and Saturday morning, when various messages were scrawled  on "multiple locations" on the school's walls. Cmdr. LaDon Reynolds said the drawings, including "420" and "N$", were not gang related.  School spokeswoman Kay Foran said the graffiti was removed by the school's building and grounds crew Saturday — at a cost to the school of about $700 to $800. She said the school will seek restitution from the culprit, if one can be identified. Reynolds said any residents who encounter graffiti can call their residential beat officer to …

River Forest Police Blotter: Bullet Holes, Marijuana Charges and a Car Egging

Police also report a string of car vandalism on North Avenue.

DUI Charge: Demetris Owens, 39, of Chicago, was charged with drunken driving after an April 11 traffic stop in the 1100 block of Harlem Avenue. Disorderly Conduct: A car parked in the 700 block of Forest Avenue was egged on April 10.  Criminal Damage: A single bullet hole was found on the front fender of a car parked in the 1400 block of Franklin Avenue on April 8. A spent 9mm casing was found next to the car. Marijuana Possession: Michael Blaising, 24, and Madison Lopez, 25, were each charged with marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia while parked near Concordia University, 7400 Augusta St., on April 7, police said.
