The 35 detached, single-family homes sold in Oak Park during March represented a 25 percent increase from March 2012, when 28 homes were sold, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe). River Forest saw the largest percent increase in the listed western suburbs with 200 percent more homes sold year over year in March, up to nine from just three sold in March 2012. The median price of homes sold in River Forest was also up compared to last year. It rose 46.7 percent to $550,000 from $375,000 during February 2012. The 18 detached, single-family homes sold in Oak Park during February represented a 20 percent increase from February 2012, when 15 homes were sold, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe). River Forest saw the largest percent increase in the listed western suburbs with 400 percent more homes sold year over year in February. La Grange joined Lemont as the only western suburbs listed to see median home prices drop. The median price of homes sold in River Forest was also up compared to last year. The 33 detached, single-family homes sold in Oak Park during January represented a 94 percent increase over January 2012, when 17 homes were sold, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe). The number of sales continues an upward trend for the Oak Park housing market, which saw 25 homes sold during December. River Forest saw the largest percent increase, with 400 percent more homes sold year over year in January. There were five homes sold that month in 2013 and one in 2012. Forest Park shows a rebound in number of homes sold and in median price. The Oak Park and River Forest markets continue to grow, but selling prices remain largely the same.
The 10 detached, single-family homes sold during November in Forest Park represented a 100 percent increase over November 2011, according to the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors (MORe). Forest Park saw the largest percent increase of the three villages. Oak Park saw a 15 percent increase in home sales and River Forest saw a 33 percent increase. Year-to-year numbers show a 72 percent increase in home sales in Oak Park. River Forest saw a slight increase as well, but both towns saw sale prices drop.
Oak Park Park's real-estate market experienced a dramatic uptick in October 2012 over the same month last year, with an increase of 72 percent in over October 2011. River Forest by comparison saw an increase of 28 percent over October 2011. The number of actual homes sold this October was 38, compared to the 22 sold during the same period last year. River Forest saw a total of nine homes sold, compared with seven sold the year before. Unfortunately for both town, sell homes came at a price. The sales price of home in Oak Park fell by almost 20 percent. River Forest saw a 30 percent decrease in the price of the homes sold. Why the hell is Oak Park the only community in the list where house prices have continued to drop significantly? I mean, it's suppose to be a desirable and affluent community, no? Why have others recovered so much more? Please explain if you can.   more ›
