River Forest Police End Chase After Driver of Stolen Vehicle Hits 60 MPH

The driver of a stolen vehicle located in River Forest refused to be pulled over, hit a police car and sped off.

River Forest police made the decision to end a high speed chase with the driver of a stolen vehicle around 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 2. An officer on patrol in the 400 block of Lathrop on Saturday night was alerted when their cruiser's automated license plate reader alerted the officer of a car reported stolen in Melrose Park Jan. 25. The vehicle was described as a black, Ford 500 and was driven by an estimated 25-year-old male wearing a black and red jacket. One Charged, Another Sought in Armed Robbery

Suspect arrested after foot chase ends on Humphrey Avenue.

One subject has been arrested and another is at large after an armed robbery that took place at a Chicago Avenue convenience store in the late night hours of Dec. 20, police said. Police said Dareece D. Montgomery, 18, of Chicago, and another man entered the 7-Eleven, 240 Chicago Ave., where one of the men displayed a silver handgun and told the employee to open the cash register, while the second jumped over the counter and took money and cigarettes valued at $44. After arriving at the scene, police said they saw a man matching the description of one of the thieves, later identified as Montgomery, walking near Austin Boulevard and Iowa Street. Police apprehended Montgomery in 600 block of North Humphrey Avenue and recovered the weapon …

After Chase, Chicago Woman Charged with Retail Theft

The 51-year-old led police on high-speed romp before arrest.

A Chicago woman was charged with felony retail theft and several other offenses after she tried to steal merchandise from Dominick’s Finer Foods in River Forest, nearly ran down the store manager in the parking lot and led officers on a high-speed chase to the border of Oak Park and Chicago, police said. The initial incident took place around 5:15 p.m. Sept. 29 at Dominick's Finer Foods, 7501 W. North Ave. The grocery store's manager caught Terrylin Ware, 51, trying to steal nearly $150 worth of what police called "bath items," followed Ware to the store's parking lot, then tried to block her from taking off in a Ford Explorer, according to police reports.  But Ware tried to run the store manager over, then drove over the parkway onto …
