Tavi Gevinson Talks Feminism in PBS Documentary Series
The Oak Park native shares the screen with some very famous company in "Makers," which debuts Tuesday night.
The New York Times dubbed her the “Oracle of Girl World.” Now Tavi Gevinson is set to debut as one of PBS and AOL’s Makers. Oak Park’s Gevinson, 16, joins the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Gloria Steinem and Hillary Clinton in the documentary series that premieres at 8 p.m. Tuesday. More than 175 women are featured—women, a trailer for the series states, who fight for something bigger than themselves. Through her online magazine Rookie, Gevinson has given a voice to young women growing up in a post-feminist world who are confronting the fact that expectations still aren’t exactly the same for boys and girls.
