Two Men Shot Near Oak Park Hospital

The shooting happened Monday afternoon, according to media reports.

Two Chicago men, ages 20 and 24, are in stable condition after police said they were shot by the occupants of a passing vehicle in Oak Park Monday afternoon, according to OakPark.com. The men were standing in the 5900 block of West Erie Street — near the West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park — around 4:37 p.m. Monday when the shooting occurred, according to OakPark.com.  Oakpark.com has more on this story.

OPRF Graduate Killed in Chicago's West Pullman Neighborhood

Ulysses "Chris" Gissendanner was shot and killed in Chicago on Jan. 2.

The Wednesday Journal reported that a graduate of Oak Park and River Forest High School, Ulysses "Chris" Gissendanner, 19, was shot and killed while driving in Chicago's West Pullman neighborhood on Jan. 2. Police do not believe he was the target of the shooting. Gissendanner was shot in the 12400 block of south Union Avenue at around 2:30 p.m. by an unknown offender, and was pronounced dead at Roseland Hospital. Gissendanner was driving to work from his aunt's house when he was shot. A musician, and a student at Daley College in Chicago, Gissendanner hoped to go into a career in business. UPDATE: Fatal Shooting in Oak Park

A 25-year-old Chicago man was found shot to death near the Oak Park-Chicago border. No arrests have been made.

Update, 4:16 p.m. Police in Oak Park say the shooting victim is a 25-year-old Chicago man. His name has not been released. Authorities were called to the area of Chicago Avenue and Austin Boulevard around 6:30 a.m. and discovered a body lying the street with "what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds," according to a news release. Witnesses told police they saw a man running from the area, located on the Oak Park-Chicago border, shortly after the shooting. Investigators are asking anyone with information to call the Oak Park Police Department at (708) 368-3800 or the department's anonymous tip line at (708) 434-1636. Oak Park Man Killed on Chicago's West Side

Authorities say altercation outside club turns deadly.

A 32-year-old Oak Park man was shot and killed early Sunday after an argument in Chicago's North Austin neighborhood. Authorities said Kyle Matthews was exiting a night club in the 5600 block of West Bloomingdale Avenue around 2:15 a.m. Sunday when a fight broke out, a Chicago Police Department spokesman said. Someone pulled a gun on Matthews, then shot him in the chest. Matthews, of the 400 block of South Elmwood Ave. in Oak Park, was taken to Loyola Medical Center in Maywood, where he was later pronounced dead. Chicago police said no arrests have been made.

Update, 11:43 a.m. Citing the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, multiple media reports have identified the shooting victim as 29-year-old Chervon Alexander, of the 1300 block of Mayfield in Chicago’s Austin community. Police Investigate Oak Park Shooting

Man claims he's the victim of gunfire.

Police in Oak Park are continuing their investigation of what led to gunfire in downtown Oak Park. Authorities have been tight-lipped about what took place around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, except to say officers arrived at a service drive located between Lake Street and North Boulevard in the 800 block and began interviewing witnesses and an "alleged victim" of gunfire, a 20-year-old Oak Park man. No injuries were reported. "He reported he was involved in an altercation," said Police Cmdr. LaDon Reynolds, adding that the incident "appears isolated." E-mail to veteran congressman warns he's 'next.'

A spokesman for U.S. Rep. Danny Davis (D-7th) said authorities are closing in on the origin of a suspicious e-mail which hinted at danger for the eight-term Chicago Democrat.  An e-mail to Davis received Sunday apparently read that "Danny Davis is next," a possible reference to Saturday's shooting in Tuscon, Ariz. which left six people dead and 14 people wounded, including U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.  Davis told the Chicago Tribune the e-mailer was someone from the Chicago who"operates around and in the community" and was known to "do this before." Attempted Murder Charges Filed in Oak Park Shooting

Melrose Park couple also booked for armed robbery in Wednesday attack at Harrison and Lombard.

A Melrose Park couple have been charged in Wednesday's armed robbery at Harrison Street and Lombard Avenue, which nearly turned deadly when one of the suspects opened fire on a Good Samaritan who was chasing them, police said. Diego Garcia, 20, and Cassandra Lavold, 21, both of 2301 N. Mannheim Road in Melrose Park, were charged with armed robbery and attempted murder, according to a police report. Garcia was also charged with unlawful use of a weapon. Lavold was also charged with possession of ammunition without a firearm owner's identification card. Police: Shot Fired at Witness to Oak Park Armed Robbery

Purse snatching at Harrison Street and Lombard Avenue leads to gunfire, arrests on expressway.

Update, 6:17 p.m. Oak Park Police Cmdr. LaDon Reynolds said the pair taken into custody — confirmed by police as a male and female — may not be charged until late Wednesday. A witness to a daytime armed robbery in Oak Park was shot at while tailing the attacker's getaway car, police said. Two people remain in police custody after the incident, which culminated with a stop in the westbound lanes of the Eisenhower Expressway at Des Plaines Avenue and reduced passing traffic to one-lane, briefly choking rush hour traffic. The names of the pair in custody were not immediately available. Shot Follows Fight Outside Oak Park School

Gunfire rings out near Holmes Elementary.

Update, 2:03 p.m. Investigators said the incident began as a robbery attempt, although it's unclear what the attackers were after when they approached the victim, who is now confirmed as a 17-year-old Oak Park resident. Police in Oak Park are investigating a Wednesday night fight that resulted in a gunshot outside Oliver Wendell Holmes Elementary School.  According to a police report, a pair of teenagers approached an unidentified 17-year-old male near the school, 508 N. Kenilworth Ave., around 8:30 p.m. and a fight broke out.
