According to the National Weather Service, the Oak Park area can expect to be hit with a storm on Thursday night that will bring snow, sleet and wind into Friday. The National Weather Service is predicting the chance of snow at 100 percent. In other words, they seem pretty sure that we'll get between two to four inches tomorrow. Snowless Streak Slated to End This Week

A storm system may dump 6 to 12 inches of snow on the Midwest this Thursday, reports indicate.

It's time to get those shovels ready. Our snow-less streak is expected to end Thursday with a storm that could drop six to 12 inches of snow on the Midwest, according to the Chicago Tribune. It's unclear at this point which areas will see the most snow but the story indicates that "current models suggest the heaviest snowfall will land to the west of Chicago, from northern Missouri through eastern Iowa and up into Wisconsin." Experts are predicting anywhere from one to "several" inches. Chicago has an 80 percent chance of flurries—especially after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Snow could continue into the night and temperatures may dip as low as 24 degrees.  The Tribune reports: Depending on the storm's path, Chicago …

Weather Alert: Snow's Here

Party's over. Forecasts calling for 6 inches of snow and strong winds.

Are you outside enjoying this wonderful, unseasonably warm weather we've been experiencing lately? No? Well, you might want to make some time. Even though temperatures are in the 50s right now, the National Weather Service is reporting that it will all be over tonight. A winter storm watch has been issued for the Chicagoland area, including Cook, DuPage and Kane counties. The storm is on schedule to set in by Thursday morning and could continue through Friday morning. Weather.com is predicting temperatures will drop into the low 30s tonight with a 100 percent chance of snow tomorrow. (I can't remember the last time I trusted a weatherman 100 percent, but they seem pretty sure about this one.) The National Weather Service is warning …

Ugh. More Snow Predicted.

You didn't really think we were done with the white stuff, did you?

More snow is coming to the Oak Park area overnight. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter weather advisory for Cook County in effect through 9 a.m. Friday morning. Between 3 and 5 inches of snow is expected to begin falling this evening, according to the NWS. The weather may begin as a mix of rain, snow and sleet before transitioning completely to snow. Because the snow is predicted to fall at a rate of up to 1 inch per hour, the NWS cautions drivers that roads may quickly become treacherous if plows cannot keep up. The heaviest amounts of snow are expected close to midnight. The NWS also cautions drivers that winds of 25 to 30 miles per hour may limit visibility. Snow is predicted to wind up tomorrow morning but may still…

Village Board could recoup funds for snow removal and considers a new flat fee structure for some building permits.

If you missed Tuesday's Oak Park Village Board meeting, Patch has some of the highlights: CDBG resolution tabled:  A resolution to keep Community Development Block Grant funding at current levels through 2012 was tabled after two trustees asked the measure be tweaked to reflect the current economic reality in Washington.  With two trustees and Village President David Pope absent – and concern looming that a deadlocked board could mean the defeat of the resolution – trustees sent it back to be updated with language that reflected the call for shared pain in resolving the federal fiscal crisis. Supporting the resolution in its original form were Trustees Ray Johnson and Colette Lueck; seeking changes were Trustees Jon Hale and John Hedges, …
