Both observed with stolen property.
Police were watching Michael Fisher as he checked out bikes outside the CTA Green Line station for 10 minutes before he rode off on one. When police stopped Fisher, 40, on the morning of June 27, he could not show that he owned the bike and police found the backpack he was carrying contained wire cutters, a screw driver, two hacksaw blades and vice grips, according to Oak Leaves. Fisher has been convicted 13 times; most recently he was paroled after a conviction for residential burglary. That evening, police arrested Jimmy Thompson, 52, who was already wanted for parole violation, after they found him pushing a lawnmower on a Chicago Avenue sidewalk. He couldn’t prove ownership. Man claims he's the victim of gunfire.
Police in Oak Park are continuing their investigation of what led to gunfire in downtown Oak Park. Authorities have been tight-lipped about what took place around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, except to say officers arrived at a service drive located between Lake Street and North Boulevard in the 800 block and began interviewing witnesses and an "alleged victim" of gunfire, a 20-year-old Oak Park man. No injuries were reported. "He reported he was involved in an altercation," said Police Cmdr. LaDon Reynolds, adding that the incident "appears isolated." Cash, credit cards, cell phone stolen from woman; $12 taken from boy, police said.
Police in Oak Park are investigating a street robbery in which a female victim was approached from behind and choked. According to police reports, the attack took place around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of Lake Street when an unidentified man approached the woman from behind, placed her in a choke hold then demanded her money. The victim turned over cash, credit and debit cards and a cell phone. The estimated loss was $550. Police officials said the incident appears isolated. "We haven't had any other incidents with a guy with this description," said Oak Park Police Cmdr. LaDon Reynolds.
