John Talbot is the Fire Marshal for the Bureau of Fire Safety, East Brunswick Fire District #1.  The bureau is responsible for conducting fire safety inspections, fire investigations and fire education.  Since taking over as the Fire Marshal 6 years ago he has instituted a kitchen fire safety program for 7th grade students.  Inspectors go into the Foods classroom and conduct over 30 programs throughout the school year to 7th graders to talk about kitchen safety and show them how to extinguish stove top fires.  Another program that was started since his promotion is the Fire Safety trailer for 3rd grade students.  Inspectors from both Fire Prevention offices in East Brunswick take the trailer to all 8 public and 3 private schools in East Brunswick.  In the trailer students learn about fire safety in the home and how to get out in case of a fire.  Lastly a fire prevention video program was started for 6thgrade students.  Students are asked to watch with their parents the "Fire Is" video series on NJFiresafety.com starting Fire Prevention Week.
