Val's Halla Celebrates 40 Years of Music

HallaPalooza offers bands, sales and plenty of memories.

Oak Park's annual music fest of an original kind will be celebrated July 28 and  29 as celebrates its 40th annivesary of bringing the best in tunes to Oak Park.

A storewide sale, refreshments and a signed memorabilia raffle will be in the offing. Story telling will also be in great quantities - and of course, who can go to a Halla celebration without offerings at the Eivis Shrine?

And there will be musical acts aplenty. Performers include:

  • John Devine, former Val's halla employee.
  • Bill Kavanaugh & Friends, owner of Bobdog studios, straight ahead R&R.
  • Yellowhammers or Cannonball, one of two units led by Oak Park's Terry White, acoustic rock.
  • Scott Ligon/Casey McDonough, harmony duo. 
  • Falling Stars, former employees Andy Mead and Mark Sheehy.
  • Jams Brown, Mike Cantafio and Emily Poole, interpreters of rock classics with jazz sensibilities.
  • Rick Simcox, blues, folk, Americana.
  • Gilmary Doyle Andrews, Oak Park singer/songwriter.
  • John Pazdan Trio, jazz.
  • How Far to Austin, acoustic rock.

Val's Halla will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at 239 Harrison St. Call 708-524-1004 for more information or log on to the store's website.
