Give Back During Back-to-School Season

Back-to-school supply drive to help local families in crisis.

The following is a blog post from Sarah's Inn, posted by Melissa Kelsey:

For families who want to give back during this year’s back-to-school season, Oak Park non-profit Sarah’s Inn is hosting a school supply drive for families in crisis. Sarah’s Inn provides counseling, support groups, and safety planning to hundreds of children and teens annually who witness domestic violence. Donations received at the school supply drive will help stabilize the educational needs of children and teens as their families seek safety.

Sarah’s Inn will accept donations of the following items in brand-new condition during the month of August: backpacks, crayons, markers, colored pencils, pencil sharpeners, pens, spiral notebooks, 1-inch binders, folders, index cards, rulers, glue, glue sticks, scissors, boxes of cereal, boxes of granola bars, and other healthy, unopened non-perishable breakfast items and snacks. Gift cards in amounts of $15 to $25 for stores that carry school supplies and groceries will also be accepted. Donation items not listed above are subject to approval by Sarah’s Inn staff and will not necessarily be accepted.
