OPRFHS Increasing Security With New Buzzer System

New series of aluminum and glass doors will be installed to enhance security at Oak Park and River Forest High School.

A new buzzer system to enhance security at Oak Park and River Forest High School should be in place starting Aug. 9.

According to a July 18 message on the OPRF website, the doors to the school's Welcome Center will continue to be unlocked from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays, but a new series of aluminum and glass doors will be installed along the west side, fully enclosing the area.

"The new system will enhance the safety of our students, staff, and visitors by ensuring that visitors check in with Welcome Center staff, particularly when the center is busy and crowded," the message states.

Visitors will check in with security, who will then buzz them through the new set of doors to proceed into the building.

"We recognize that the new look of the Welcome Center may take a bit of getting used to," the message states. "As we implement this new security system, we also will be working hard to improve the ways in which we welcome guests into our building."
