MONDAY, JULY 15

Man Tries to Punch Cop

Eric Caine, 47, of the 1500 block of Bonnie Brae Street in River Forest was arrested for aggravated assault and resisting after he tried to punch an officer during a traffic stop around 3 a.m. Police said officers stopped a suspicious vehicle parked illegally in the 1500 block of Bonnie Brae, in which the driver and passenger, Caine, seemed to be asleep. Police said after the driver told police he had been drinking and would leave the car overnight, Caine got out of the car and tried to run at an officer and strike him with a clenched fist.

Bike Theft

Someone stole a $100 bike from a patio in the 1400 block of Harlem Avenue around 3:20 p.m. 

FRIDAY, JULY 12

$820 Stolen

Someone stole about $820 from an unlocked home in the 900 block of Forest Avenue sometime between July 4 and July 11. 

THURSDAY, JULY 11

Bottle Thrown at Jetta

Someone threw a glass bottle at a VW Jetta while the driver was sitting inside around midnight in the 7200 block of Thomas Street. 

WEDNESDAY, JULY 10

$150 Coin Stolen

Someone stole a 2013 West Point Mint Silver Eagle coin from a home in the 900 block of Bonnie Brae Street around 9 a.m. The total estimated loss is $150, police said. 

TUESDAY, JULY 9

Aggravated Battery

Victor Apollo, 31, of the 500 block of Highland Avenue in Oak Park, was arrested for aggravated battery and resisting an officer after he refused to leave the River Forest Town Center. Police responded to a call about an aggressive panhandler who was asked to leave the property around 12:20 p.m. He was charged and given a July court date.
