Concordia Student Sent 'Alarming' Gun Photos to Classmates: Police

An 18-year-old Concordia University student sent emails containing photos of a gun and "menacing" messages to other students, who worried he was planning violence at the school.

An 18-year-old Concordia University student is charged with felony disorderly conduct after he sent "alarming" emails containing a photo of a semi-automatic pistol to other students, River Forest police said.

A student in the 7400 block of Augusta Avenue reported she received an email from Ricardo Gonzalez, of Chicago, containing photos of a gun and some "menacing messages" about 7:20 p.m. Oct. 22. The student expressed concern that Gonzalez might be planning violence at the school.

Police learned two other students had received the same messages, and had reported the matter to school security, police said.

Gonzalez, who lives off-campus, admitted to having sent the messages but denied planning violence against the school or any individuals. He had ordered a BB gun, a replica Smith & Wesson semi-automatic pistol, and was waiting to receive it in the mail, police said.
