Chicago Man Caught With Meth and Pills in Theft Attempt: Police Blotter

Oak Park and River Forest police reports, May 29-June 4

TUESDAY, JUNE 4

License Plate Stolen

Someone stole a license plate from a 2004 Hyundai between 9 p.m. June 3 and 7:15 a.m. June 4 in the 400 block of Home Avenue in Oak Park. The total estimated loss is $26, police said. 

Hair Studio Window Damaged

Someone threw something to damage a window at Lester’s Hair Studio, 6340 W. Roosevelt Rd. in Oak Park between 12 p.m. June 2 and 9 a.m. June 4. Police said the estimated loss is $1,000.

Bike Stolen

Someone stole a $350 girl’s bike from a bike rack in the 100 block of South Oak Park Avenue in Oak Park between 4:45 and 5:50  p.m.

SUNDAY, JUNE 2

Spare Tire Stolen

Someone stole the spare tire from a Honda CRV parked in the 1000 block of Randolph Street in Oak Park between 5 p.m. June 1 and 8 a.m. June 2. The estimated loss is $300, police said. 

Comcast Modem Stolen

Someone stole a Comcast modem from the delivery box left in a doorway in the 100 block of South Oak Park Avenue in Oak Park between 7 a.m. May 29 and 7 p.m. June 2. The estimated loss is $60, police said. 

SATURDAY, JUNE 1

Man Attempts Theft, Caught With Meth and Pills

River Forest police charged Charles Redd, 45, of Chicago with possession of a controlled substance around 2:40 p.m. at Whole Foods Market, 7245 W. Lake St.

Officers were called to the store after Redd reportedly tried to steal a customer's wallet, police said. Police said he had methadone and other illegal narcotic pills on him. He was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance. 

Wallet Stolen

Someone stole a wallet containing credit cards, IDs and $13 cash around 4:20 p.m. at Panera Bread, 7349 W. Lake St. in River Forest. Police said the credit cards were later used in Melrose Park and Elmwood Park. 

FRIDAY, MAY 31

Retail Theft

River Forest police charged Eyndyiah Brooks, 30, of Chicago with retail theft around 4:15 p.m. at Whole Foods Market, 7245 Lake St. Police said Brooks stole $10 in food and alcohol. She was charged with felony retail theft because of a prior conviction, police said.   

Wallet Stolen at Starbucks

Someone stole a wallet containing credit cards at Starbucks, 7201 W. Lake St. in River Forest around 6:45 p.m. The credit cards were later used in Melrose Park, police said.
