Pregnant Woman Steals, Aggravated DUI: Police Blotter

SUNDAY, JULY 7

Pregnant Woman Steals Wallet

A pregnant woman and a man were seen stealing a wallet from a shopping cart between 2:20 and 3 p.m. in the 400 block of Madison Street. The total estimated loss is $55, police said.

Battery Arrest

Police charged Jalessa Nelson, 21, of Chicago with bettery around 6 p.m. in the 1100 block of South Lombard Avenue. She was given a July 22 court date and released on bond. 

Jewels, Electronics Stolen in Burglary

Someone broke into a home in the 100 block of South Humphrey Avenue through the back porch between 1:50 and 7 p.m. and stole jewelry, two laptops, an MP3 player and a bag containing a credit card. The total estimated loss is $1,220, police said. 

Property Damage Arrest

Police charged Mariangelie Fonseca, 23, of Elmwood Park with criminal damage to property around 5:40 p.m. in the 1100 block of South Lombard Avenue. She was released after posting bond. 

Property Damage, Theft

Someone used concrete to break a glass door to get into a building in the 200 block of Lake Street and steal $100 between 12:30 and 9:40 p.m.

Warrant Arrest

Police charged Adam Schmidt, 29, of Elmwood Park with a warrant out of Cook County for domestic battery. He was arrested around 3:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of South Grove Avenue and held for bond hearings. 

Bike Stolen

Someone stole a $400 men's bike from a rack in the 1100 block of South Boulevard between 12:15 and 6:45 p.m. 

SATURDAY, JULY 6

DUI, Drug Paraphernalia

Police charged Cedrick Hunter, 38, of Chicago with driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia around midnight in the 6900 block of North Avenue. He was released after posting bond, police said. 

Car Break-in, Damage on Humphrey

  • Someone used a pry tool to break into a car in the 1100 block of North Humphrey Avenue between 1:15 and 4:35 a.m. Nothing was reported stolen. 
  • Someone used a pry tool to damage a door and window of a car parked in the 1100 block of North Humphrey Avenue. The estimated cost of damage is $100, police said. 

Leaf Blower Stolen

A man stole a leaf blower from a driveway in the 700 block of Ridgeland Avenue around 11:15 a.m. and drove away in a black Jeep Cherokee. The total estimated loss is $379, police said. 

Retail Theft Arrest

Police charged Alicia Caldwell, 45, of Chicago with retail theft around 2 p.m. in the 200 block of Lake Street. She was released after posting bond, police said. 

Video Games Stolen

Someone broke into a home in the 6100 block of Roosevelt Road between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. and stole an X-box game console, game controllers and games. The total estimated loss is $550, police said. 

Laptop, Phone Stolen From Car

Someone stole a laptop, a laptop case and an Android cell phone from an unlocked car in the 800 block of North Ridgeland Avenue between 8:15 and about 10 p.m. The total estimated loss is $1,730, police said. 

Jewels, Cash Stolen in Burglary

Someone forced open a window of a home in the 900 block of Washington Boulevard and stole a gold ring, cash and damaged a fire safe between 9:45 a.m. and 1:35 p.m. The total estimated loss is $275, police said. 

DUI

Police charged Kory Davis, 39, of Chicago with driving under the influence of alcohol and a warrant out of Oak Park for driving on a suspended license around 4:30 p.m. in the 6400 block of North Avenue. He was processed and released after posting bond, police said. 

Aggravated DUI

Police charged Porter Walker, 22, of Bellwood with two counts of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol around 3:45 a.m. in the 800 block of Madison Street. He was processed and held for bond hearings. 

DUI

Police charged John Lane, 29, of the 800 block of North Euclid Avenue in Oak Park with driving under the influence of alcohol and illegal transportation of liquor around 3:45 in the 1000 block of North Oak Park Avenue. He was processed and released after posting bond, police said. 

Resident Reports Fireworks Explosion 

A resident in the 500 block of Garfield reported disorderly conduct after hearing a loud explosion of fireworks a group of kids had set off in the park around 1:45 p.m. 

FRIDAY, JULY 5

School Door Shattered

Someone broke the glass pane of a school door with a traffic control barricade in the 200 block of North Cuyler Avenue between 7 p.m. July 4 and 3:30 a.m. July 5. 

Theft Arrest

Police charged Thomas Sumlin, 21, of Snellville, GA, with theft for an incident that took place around 7:15 p.m. June 27 in the 900 block of Madison Street. He was processed and held for bond hearings, police said. 

Plants, Fence Destroyed

Someone pulled up several plants, took two hanging plants and pulled up four sections of a wooden fence in the 800 block of North East Avenue between 11 p.m. July 4 and 5 a.m. July 5. The estimated cost of the damage is $730, police said. 

3,000-pound AC Unit Stolen

Someone stole a bike and a three-ton ground A/C unit from a home in the 1100 block of South Ridgeland Avenue between noon April 30 and noon May 2. The total estimated loss is $2,895, police said. 

Fence Damage

  • Someone knocked over the fencing at a home in the 800 block of Fair Oaks Court between midnight and 7:20 a.m.
  • Someone broke the gate of a fence in the 900 block of North East Avenue between 11:30 p.m. July 4 and about 9 a.m. July 5. The estimated cost of damage is $1,000, police said. 

Bike Theft

Someone stole a $150 bike from a home in the 500 block of North Marion Street between 1 and 9  a.m.

Car Damage

  • Someone broke the rear passenger window of a car in the 1300 block of North Austin Boulevard between 7 a.m. and about 12:15 p.m. The estimated cost of damage is $150, police said. 
  • Someone broke the windshield of a car in the 400 block of West Lake Street between 11:30 p.m. July 5 and about 8 a.m. July 5. The estimated cost of damage is $200, police said. 

Lexus Ransacked

Someone ransacked the inside of a Lexus and stole an iPhone charger in the 600 block of Harrison Street between 12:30 p.m. July 4 and about 1:15 p.m. July 5. 

Car Part Stolen

Someone cut the catalytic converter from a Chevy parked in the 1200 block of North Lombard Avenue between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. The estimated cost of damage is $250, police said. 

Motorcycle Stolen

Someone stole a blue 2005 Suzuki SV650 motorcycle parked in the 300 block of Harrison Street between 8 p.m. June 20 and 7 p.m. July 2. 

SATURDAY, JUNE 29

Electronics Stolen From Apartment During Move

Someone stole an iPod and six Playstation games from an apartment in the 200 block of Washington Boulevard while the resident was moving between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
