Woman Robbed on Harrison, Boys Steal $200 in Candy: Police Blotter

THURSDAY, JULY 18

Man-Woman Team Robs Woman on Harrison

A man and a woman double-teamed a woman in the 100 block of Harrison Street and stole her iPhone around 10:20 p.m. The woman, an Oak Park resident, told police the female offender tried to pull her purse from her shoulder. During a struggle over the purse, the man sprayed the woman in the face, causing her to fall to the ground. The two robbers then took her iPhone and its case and ran west on Harrison, police said.

Saws, Drills, Tools Stolen

Someone stole multiple saws, drills and tools from an unlocked van in the 100 block of North Euclid Avenue between 11 p.m. July 17 and 8:35 a.m. July 18. The total estimated loss is $1,579, police said. 

Boys Steal $200 in Candy

Four Chicago boys were arrested for retail theft around 3:40 p.m. after a security officer at Dominick's, 259 Lake St., saw them put about $200 in candy into their backpacks and leave the store without paying. 

iPhones Stolen

  • Someone stole an iPhone and its case from an unattended backpack in the 0-100 block of Lake Street between 5 and 5:30 p.m. The total estimated loss is $549, police said. 
  • A Maywood resident reported a man walked past him in the 500 block of North Harlem Avenue around 3:15 p.m., grabbed his iPhone from a tabletop and ran east on Erie. The total estimated loss is $800, police said. 

Bikes Stolen

Someone stole two unattended bikes and two helmets from a patio in the 100 block of Francisco Terrace between 9:15 and 10 p.m. The total estimated loss is $1,780, police said. 

Car Ransacked

Someone ransacked the glove box of a car in the 400 block of Augusta Avenue between 9 p.m. July 17 and 6:30 a.m. July 18 and stole about $250 in miscellaneous items.

Boys Arrested for Stealing iPhone

Three Chicago boys, ages 13, 14 and 17, were arrested for stealing a cell phone June 9 in the 900 block of North Ridgeland Avenue. Police said the boys turned themselves in to police around 10:45 a.m. 

WEDNESDAY, JULY 17

Garage Break-in

A resident in the 700 block of South Maple Avenue saw someone leaving their garage around 3:50 a.m. Police said nothing was stolen from the garage, but that someone had used a pry tool to get inside. An unoccupied black Buick Rendezvous was parked in the area and had apparently been abandoned, police said. 

Debit Card Stolen

Someone stole a debit card from an unattended purse in a room in the 300 block of South Kenilworth around 11 a.m.

TUESDAY, JULY 16

2 Arrested for Throwing Bricks at Cars

Police charged Matthew Walker, 19, of the 1200 block of North East Avenue in Oak Park  and Jacob Boulware, 18, of the 900 block of Columbian Avenue in Oak Park with felony property damage and reckless conduct after someone saw them throwing bricks at cars on North Avenue around 4:45 p.m. Police said one of the bricks broke the windshield of a Lincoln MKX, causing about $1,500 in damages, and another broke the windshield of a Chevy van. Both men were held for bond hearings. 

Bike Theft, Drug Paraphernalia

Police charged Nathaniel Brown, 45, of the 500 block of Clinton Avenue in Oak Park with a bike theft in the 1100 block of South Boulevard and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested around 3 p.m. in the 1100 block of North Boulevard and released on bond.

Battery Arrest

Police arrested Elonna Mack-Nelson, 18, of the 400 block of South Humphrey Avenue in Oak Park for a battery incident that took place May 9 in the 200 block of North Scoville Avenue. She was arrested at the police department around 9 p.m. and released on bond.
