Van Wart, who will be a senior this fall at Claremont McKenna College, and Lantz, who will be a junior at the University of North Carolina, were elected intern class president and vice president, respectively, by Senator Kirk’s staff based on their original proposals for enhancing intern support to the senator’s Illinois constituent services, according to the release.

“I applaud Eric and Abby for their passion for public service and commitment to serving the people of Illinois,” Kirk said in a statement. “Our interns provide invaluable assistance to the people of Illinois by facilitating increased communication and by giving tours of the Capitol to visitors from our state.”
