Kids Meet Falcon and Learn Falconry March 5 at Oak Park Public Library
School's out March 5 for Pulaski Day. But at our Falconry Program you'll see a live falcon & get a unique lesson in natural history, social studies, history, geography, & biology. Bring a camera!
It’s not every day that a child sees a falcon, especially here in urban Chicagoland. But on Monday, March 5 they can meet a live falcon and learn about the ancient hunting tradition of falconry. This free Falconry Program for ages 3 and up begins at 11 am at the Oak Park Public Library, 834 Lake Street. Free tickets will be available at the library beginning February 25.
Craig Hendee from the International Heritage Conservancy will share his expertise and show off a majestic, live falcon. Falconry, an ancient sport first practiced more than 2,000 years ago, is still popular today. The falconer and bird learn to work together to catch game. Learn the history of falconry and where falconry is today.
On Monday, March 5, Oak Park schools are closed to celebrate Pulaski Day. Bring your child to the library for a learning experience. Craig Hendee combines natural history, social studies, history, geography, and biology to deliver a unique experience. Books on falconry are also available at the library. Don’t forget your camera!
