Driving While License Revoked

Police charged Gilberto Vela, 34, of Chicago, with driving while his license was revoked about 11:45 a.m. in the 6100 block of Roosevelt Road.

Man Reaches Through Window in Burglary Attempt, Woman Scares Him Away

A woman reported a man in his 20s opened the window of her home in the 400 block of North Austin Boulevard about 7:30 a.m. and started to reach inside. The offender ran when the woman yelled she was going to call the police. 

Warrant Arrests

  • Police charged Robert Smith, 52, of Chicago, with a warrant out of DuPage County for driving on a suspended license. He was arrested about 11:30 a.m. in the 100 block of Lake Street, police said. 
  • Police charged Octavio Matchain, 40, of Chicago, with a warrant out of Cook County during a traffic stop in the 6100 block of Roosevelt Road about 11:45 a.m. 
Saturday, October 19

Theft, Drug Arrest

Police charged Steven Kirlew, 31, of Chicago, with theft and possession of drug paraphernalia about midnight in the 100 block of South Grove Avenue after he stole $60 in kids' toys and a baby blanket from a home in the 200 block of South Grove Avenue. 

Burglary on Taylor Avenue

Someone forced open a basement door in the 1100 block of South Taylor Avenue and stole a computer and coins between 6:45 and 10:45 a.m. The total estimated loss is $1,320, police said. 

Registration Sticker Stolen

Someone stole a registration sticker from a car in the 100 block of North Elmwood Avenue between 6:30 p.m. Oct. 18 and 2 p.m. Oct. 19. The total estimated loss is $102, police said. 

Honda Stolen on Lake Street

Someone stole a green 2000 Honda Accord that had the keys inside the car in the 800 block of West Lake Street between 7 and 8:45 p.m. The total estimated loss is $3,000, police said. 

Friday, October 18

Woman Steals $200 Hair Weave

A woman in her 20s stole four packages of Onyx black hair weave from Beauty One, 916 Madison St., around 1 p.m. The total estimated loss is about $200, police said. 

$5,400 in Electronics, Tools Stolen

Someone stole a snow blower, a lawn mower, a flat screen TV, an X-box, a Playstation and 50 X-box video games from a home in the 900 block of Wenonah Avenue between 9 a.m. Oct. 4 and 4:30 p.m. Oct. 18. The total estimated loss is $5,400, police said. 

Bike Stolen

Someone stole a $200 bike from an unlocked garage in the 700 block of Highland Avenue between 10 p.m. Oct. 16 and 4 p.m. Oct. 18. 

Bike, Saw Stolen

Someone stole a bike and a Black & Decker circular saw from an unlocked garage in the 900 block of South Grove Avenue between 2 p.m. Oct. 9 and 11 p.m. Oct. 18. The total estimated loss is $580, police said. 

Copper Stolen From Car

Someone stole copper tubing from a car in the 1000 block of South Euclid Avenue about 8 p.m. The total estimated loss is $20, police said. 

Thursday, October 17

Window Shattered

Someone shattered the front window of a car parked in the 800 block of North Boulevard between 4:30 and 5:40 p.m. The estimated cost of damage is $150, police said.
