Val's Halla Celebrating 41 Years with Live Music, Deals and More

The longtime Oak Park record store will also have giveaways and concert ticket raffles July 27-28. And it's teasing the third annual Oak Park/Forest Park Collector's Crawl.

Last year's Halla-Palooza event had a special significance, because the Oak Park record store was turning 40, and it was surviving with the help of the community.

Then again, every Halla-Palooza has the chance to be special. The store is celebrating its 41st year in business this weekend, July 27-28.

There will be storewide sales, concert ticket raffles, refreshments and giveaway for visitors on both days. Live performers will also play both days, including: Jeff Elbel & Ping, The Beatleleles, Hope Rose, The Ben Schmidt-Swartz/Nelson Oliva Group and Andy & Mark of Falling Stars.

On Sunday only, crates of LPs and CDs will be available outside for just $1.

This isn't the only big event for Val's Halla Records this summer. Coming on Aug. 17 is the third annual Oak Park/Forest Park Collector's Crawl. Five area record stores team up to promote sales, entertainment and more. Check back to Patch in the coming weeks for more information.
