2 Charged With Retali Theft at Jewel

Police charged Jessica Prince, 22, of Forest Park, and Deidre Roberts, 22, of Maywood, with retail theft after they reportedly stole $131 in groceries at Jewel, 7525 Lake St., about 3:30 p.m. Roberts was charged with misdemeanor theft. Prince was charged with felony retail theft because of a previous retail theft conviction, police said.

Felony DUI: .171 BAC

Police charged Santos Avelar, 45, of Chicago, with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol during a traffic stop in the 1500 block of Harlem Avenue about 5 p.m. His blood alcohol content was .171, police said. He was charged with felony aggravated DUI and other traffic offenses. 

Felony DUI: .096 BAC

Police charged Augustin Martinez, 56, of Chicago, with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol during a traffic stop near the intersection of North and Thatcher avenues about 10 p.m. His blood alcohol content was .096, police said. He was charged with felony aggravated DUI and other traffic offenses. 

Man Steals 7 Bottles of Zyrtec

Forest Park police charged Sean Novarro, 26, of Addison, with retail theft after he stole seven bottles of Zyrtec, worth about $180, at CVS, 7216 Circle Ave., about 3:50 p.m. He was processed, given a Jan. 7 court date and released. 

Failure to Yield to a Pedestrian

Forest Park police charged Shameika Johnson, 25, of Bellwood, with failure to yield to a pedestrian after she almost hit someone at the intersection of Madison Street and Clinton Avenue in Oak Park about 5:30 p.m. She was given a Jan. 8 court date and released from the scene.

Lawn Mower, Snow Blower Stolen

Someone stole a lawn mower and a snow blower from a garage in the 800 block of Lathrop Avenue around 3:20 p.m. 

Thursday, November 14 

Man Driving 75MPH in 30MPH Zone Arrested for DUI 

PLeonel Flores, 31, of Manvel, TX, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving and driving while license revoked after police stopped him for going 75 mph in a 30 mph zone.

During a traffic stop about 2:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of Harlem Avenue, Flores exhibited signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests, police said. He was held and charged with DUI, reckless driving and driving while license revoked. 

Phones, Clippers Stolen in Burglary

Someone broke into an apartment in the 1100 block of Hannah Avenue in Forest Park and stole two cell phones and some hair clippers between 11:20 p.m. Nov. 13 and 2:15 p.m. Nov. 14. The total estimated loss is $700, police said. 

Wednesday, November 13

Man Had Crack Cocaine, Open Alcohol in Car

Police charged Trenell Boyd, 22, of Chicago, with possession of a controlled substance and driving on a suspended license after they found a small amount of crack cocaine and open alcohol in his possession around 2:15 a.m. He was arrested during a traffic stop near the intersection of Harlem Avenue and LeMoyne Street, processed and given a December court date.

Possession of Controlled Substance

Forest Park police charged William Pfifer, 32, of Chicago, with possession of a controlled substance after they found a hypodermic needle and a bag of heroin in his car in the 600 block of Harlem Avenue. He was processed around 3:20 p.m. and given a Nov. 14 court date. 

Monday, November 11

DUI (Drugs)

Forest Park police charged John Giovenco, 31, of Oak Park, with driving under the influence of drugs during a traffic stop near the intersection of Des Plaines Avenue and Madison Street about 2:30 a.m. 

Police responded a call about reckless driving and stopped Giovenco after he ran a red light on Madison Street. Giovenco told police he was on pain medications and that he hadn't been drinking. He was charged with DUI, improper lane usage, disobeying a traffic signal, driving without headlights and a seatbelt violation. He was given a Dec. 17 court date and released.
