BB Shot From Window Strikes Teen's Neck

An 18-year-old Oak Park man was arrested for assault and battery after a BB he shot from an apartment window struck a 15-year-old in the neck. Other recent reports include thefts at gyms, garages and more.

Teen Shooting BBs From Window Arrested for Assault, Battery

An 18-year-old Oak Park teen was arrested for battery and aggravated assault after he used an air rifle to shoot BBs out of his apartment window and struck a 15-year-old boy in the neck.

Police said Darell Leverson, 18, of the 1200 block of North Austin Boulevard in Oak Park, was shooting BBs out of his window at people standing in the walkway about 5:40 p.m. when one of the BBs hit the boy in the neck. Another man told police Leverson shot at him and missed hours earlier. 

Leverson was arrested in the apartment building and charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of battery. He was processed and released on bond.

Bag Stolen 

Someone stole a blue bag from a car in a garage in the 200 block of South Lombard Avenue between 1 and 7:45 a.m. The total estimated loss is $65, police said. 

iPhone Stolen at Gym

Someone stole an iPhone from a duffle bag in a gym in the 200 block of South Marion Street between 8:45 and 10:30 p.m. The total estimated loss is $640, police said. 

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 18

Car Part Stolen

Someone stole the catalytic converter of a 2007 Buick Rendezvous parked in the 900 block of South Humphrey Avenue between 8:30 p.m. Sept. 17 and 11:15 a.m. Sept. 18. The total estimated loss is $1,400, police said. 

Phone Line Cut

Someone cut the phone line outside a business in the 1100 block of Garfield Avenue between 1:40 and 8 a.m. The estimated cost of damage is $150, police said. 

Bike Stolen From Garage

Someone stole a bike from an unlocked garage in the 1100 block of Wisconsin Avenue between 8 a.m. Sept. 17 and 4:30 p.m. Sept. 18. The total estimated loss is $370, police said. 

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 12

Bike Stolen From Yard

Someone stole a $200 bike from a yard in the 1000 block of South Kenilworth Avenue between 3 p.m. Sept. 11 and 8 a.m. Sept. 12.
